In order to solve computer access issues when using AR or AM more and more schools are purchasing NEO 2s. This training will show existing Renaissance Place schools how to use their NEO 2s to take AR and AM quizzes. It will enable schools to make best use of the NEO 2s and help to streamline the whole process of taking quizzes in the classroom and avoid the problems of too many quizzes and too few on-line computers. The session will also provide an insight into some of the other uses of the NEO 2 to support a wide range of teaching and learning in and outside the classroom and ensure you make optimal use of this exciting resource.

This session discusses the various methods of how NEO 2 can help enhance guided and collaborative writing. NEO 2 is a powerful writing tool and you will be taken through a comprehensive range of exercises that will support writing across the curriculum. We will focus on using NEO 2 for developing keyboard skills, learning touch typing and extending writing skills for individual and group writing. You will be shown some of the unique features of NEO 2 as well as learning about how work can be shared by “beaming” it backwards and forwards between NEOs, and when work is completed how to print it out wirelessly. You will also be shown and given a wide range of resources and ideas to support effective writing. You will have plenty of opportunity to discuss and experience the advantages of using the NEO 2 as a writing and learning tool.

Using NEO2 to support assessment

Assessment for Learning has become a key issue for many schools. We will demonstrate the assessment tools provided by NEO 2 to support learning and teaching. You will be shown how to use the 2Know! toolbar as well as the more sophisticated AccelTest feature. You will have plenty of opportunity to see how our free software can be used to enhance and extend teaching and learning for a whole class and small groups using the NEO 2. As well as providing a comprehensive range of pre-written assessment libraries, you will be shown how to adapt these to create new assessments entirely from scratch to suit the needs of your pupils.

Using NEO 2 to support Special Needs

Special Needs pupils have always made good use of the NEO 2. This session will provide an excellent opportunity for you to explore the variety of new ways in which the NEO 2 can be used to extend inclusion in the classroom. We will also show how teachers can support individual needs in the classroom. Specific learning needs will be addressed and linked to particular features of the NEO 2 and supporting software. You will see how pupils’ learning needs can be supported using ‘Text 2 Speech’ and CoWriter as well as the ‘in-built’ features of NEO 2.
