For every Accelerated Reader (AR) quiz successfully completed at any time on April 6th, Renaissance Learning, producer's of the world's most widely-used reading software, will donate 5p to the Japanese Relief Fund. A record-breaking target of 25,000 quizzes has been set, which would equate to a donation by Renaissance Learning of £1250 to the Fund.
Many schools participating in this unique "Quiz for Japan" event are hosting their own fundraising activities and Marina Lee, Librarian at Clacton County High School, her husband and many of her colleagues have each personally pledged to match Renaissance Learning's donation for every quiz successfully completed by the pupils of her school: "Clacton County High School will pulling all the stops out to get a record number of quizzes done."

Dirk Foch, Managing Director of Renaissance Learning, comments: "Everyone at Renaissance Learning was shocked and saddened by the recent events in Japan and we wanted to play a part in helping raise money for the Japanese Relief Fund that will make a real difference. We are delighted that so many schools will be taking up the challenge to read and quiz as many books as possible on April 6th and I hope we smash our target for the total number completed on the day. I would also like to thank Chris Bradford and Authors Abroad for their generosity in helping us raise even more money through the special Young Samurai book offer."
