Text2Speech - Giving Writing a Voice

Now Available!

The new Text2Speech device and NEO’s built-in infrared facility will allow you to read back any written text through headphones (included) or speakers.

This affordable, easy-to-use add on device, compatible with both NEO 1 and NEO 2, will help support children and adults of all abilities with their writing and to expand their learning experience through its text read back facility.

The unit links via the infrared capability found in both NEO 1 and NEO 2 and enables writers to hear what they have written letter by letter, word by word or sentence by sentence. The software can be customised for students of all levels by selecting settings for automatic read-back, additional settings also include volume and read back speed. Like all AlphaSmart products Text2Speech has a massive battery life of over 30,000 words from just 2 AA batteries.

The Text2Speech unit will sit facing the infrared port of the NEO 1 or NEO 2 and as you enter text you will be able to hear what you are writing through headphones provided or with speakers.

Text2Speech will also work with Co:Writer for NEO as well as with the NEO 1 and NEO 2 spell-checker and thesaurus features giving students even more flexibility and confidence in their writing and self-expression.

If your NEO was purchased before May 2009 it will most likely need an update to allow Text2Speech to work, you will need the latest version of AlphaSmart Manager 2 (version 3.4.1) to update your device with the latest NEO software.
