The epic Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan has now been made available for AR quizzing. This series is one of the great epics of the fantasy genre, with 14 books published over two decades (the final three being completed by Brandon Sanderson following Jordan’s death). It had been requested by customers, so we are pleased to have made the quizzes available.
The series is a classic good versus evil story, drawing on influences from creation myths and fantasy legends. In Jordan’s mythology, a Creator has imprisoned the Dark One, but it has been prophesied that the Dark One will escape and wreak evil havoc on creation. A legendary Dragon will be reborn to battle the Dark One; the series leads towards the Last Battle where the tension between good and evil will be decisively settled.
The books were published between 1990 and 2013, and in that time have garnered a significant fan base. Students who have enjoyed the Lord of the Rings but want more of a challenge for their next series, the Wheel of Time would be ideal. Together they run to approximately 4,500,000 words – an intrepid student reading his or her way through the series would earn 671 points with Accelerated Reader.
