AMA helps:
1. Inform instruction with criterion-referenced, computer-adaptive baseline STAR Maths assessment 2. Engage pupils with personalised maths practice that allows them to progress at their own pace 3. Achieve a genuine enthusiasm for maths amongst pupils of all ages and abilities

A: INFORM
The STAR Maths component of Accelerated Maths Advantage (AMA) helps determine the maths placement of pupils within a class or Year Group, providing an effective way of measuring growth and predicting national test results.
This unique, criterion-referenced, computer-adaptive baseline assessment can provide key criteria – such as National Curriculum levels, including sub-levels – in as little as 15 minutes. Reliable and valid assessment data is available to view within seconds of a pupil completing a test, including a scaled score ranking of everyone within the class. This enables every pupil’s progress to be measured against APP (Assessing Pupil Progress) assessment focuses, and allows for effective RTI (Response to Intervention).
A “Year Library” is recommended by STAR Maths for each pupil that contains work they should successfully complete by achieving at least 85% correct. In this way the work is geared towards the individual pupil’s learning age, and not necessarily the stage of their education.
Teaching is informed by STAR Maths results as personalised assignments formed of a variety of topics can be created. Objective libraries cater for all levels of ability from KS2 to KS4, and any combination can be used to create a personalised assignment book. This unique approach essentially allows a bespoke maths textbook to be created at the touch of a button.

B: ENGAGE
Success is achieved with Accelerated Maths Advantage through the personalised practice offered by Accelerated Maths, based on the results provided by the STAR Maths assessment. When combined with existing knowledge of a pupil’s abilities and understanding, these results help tailor work problems and boost confidence without alienation.
The creation of personalised practice assignments for every pupil provides engagement and motivation, whilst keeping them sufficiently challenged to make progress. Furthermore, the combination of the program and a single computer enables the effective management of all paperwork, scoring and reporting – thus allowing more time to work directly with pupils.
Pupils can submit their answers using AccelScan cards, CRS (Classroom Response System) Responders, or NEO 2, which further aids engagement. More information about these methods can be found at In-classroom Tools.
Once completed, the automatically produced TOPS (The Opportunity to Praise Students) Report provides immediate feedback for both the pupil and teacher; promoting one-to-one discussion on individual success and progress.

C: ACHIEVE
The highest praise Accelerated Maths Advantage can receive is when a previously disillusioned pupil becomes enthused and confident about maths, which is exactly what AMA achieves.
The personalised nature of the program allows a particular topic to be taught to a whole class, even though every pupil within it is working on a different problem that has been selected for them based on their STAR Maths results. This unique level of personalisation enables every pupil to work and progress at their own pace, without anyone feeling alienated or left behind.
Every school using AMA receives online and on-site training by a designated Implementation Specialist, has access to help and support from our Customer Services Team, and can share hints, tips and best practices with other schools using the program at free local events.
