North East Success Stories
The Boulevard Academy, Kingston upon Hull
Established as a free school in 2013, the Boulevard Academy has a specific focus on literacy and numeracy. The curriculum relies heavily on Accelerated Reader and Accelerated Maths to personalise learning for every student - and STAR Assessments provide the data to inform planning and teaching.
Eston Park Academy, Middlesbrough
The Renaissance School Partnership has transformed how staff at Eston Park Academy run Accelerated Reader. As a result, the percentage of students at risk has halved and the average number of points earned per student has risen almost fourfold.
Firth Park Academy, Sheffield
By joining the Renaissance School Partnership programme, Firth Park has put Accelerated Reader at the centre of the English Department. While reading used to be an add-on, it is now firmly embedded in the curriculum and a top priority for the staff team.
Darlington School of Mathematics and Science, Co. Durham
A large number of students joining Darlington School of Mathematics and Science have reading ages well below their chronological ages. Accelerated Reader motivates them to practise reading, with the result that their reading levels have improved and they are more able to access the curriculum.
King James's School, Knaresborough, North Yorkshire
Librarian Lisa Bryden had used Accelerated Reader at a previous school and knew that she wanted to implement the programme at her new school. Her past experience with AR has been repeated, with books flying off the shelves of the library and students gaining in confidence.
Bluecoat Academy, Nottingham
Reading age data was concerning staff at Bluecoat Academy. Since implementing Accelerated Reader, students have been catching up faster as they have been motivated to read and recognise their success in making progress.
The Thomas Hepburn Community School, Gateshead
Librarian Claire Harrison, was so impressed with the success one student was enjoying with Accelerated Reader (AR) that she wanted to share her story.
