Softlink Europe has launched its first UK School library survey. The survey will be distributed to school librarians across the UK and is supported by a number of industry leaders including the School Library Association (SLA), CRB Cunninghams, BDS and JCS as well as Renaissance Learning.

It is the first annual survey launched for the UK school library industry and is designed to identify the trends and examine the issues facing UK school libraries. It will run until Friday 6th March, providing an opportunity for all school librarians to contribute their valuable input to advocate the role of school librarians.

Chris McPhee, Softlink’s General Manager comments:

School librarians and the school library play an essential role in the learning and development of students. At Softlink we feel it is important to identify the trends and issues facing school librarians, especially during a time when school budgets are tight and libraries are feeling the pain.

We will continue to launch the survey each year, the results will be analysed and a report created which we will share with participants and the school library industry. We do appreciate all contributors and encourage everyone working in school libraries to complete the more results the more valuable the results to the entire industry.

The survey is open from Monday 2nd February until Friday 6th March – register to take part.
