Accelerated Reader™ (AR™) a software from Renaissance Learning™ was introduced to the school over five years ago to encourage the development of a ‘Reading Culture’ at a time when many students lacked interest in reading and saw it as a chore rather than a pleasure. The goal was to raise attainment in literacy and encourage Reading for Pleasure by providing more access to, and interest in, books.

The pilot went so well that the program was rolled out across the whole first year intake, taking in around 70 children.
