Although you can mix and match your training to suit your own needs, we realise that some schools require an “off the peg” selection. Here we have put together some tried and tested sessions that you may wish our Renaissance Consultants to deliver at your school.

Start up Day AR020
On-site training is an opportunity for all your staff to increase their knowledge of AR. One of our trainers will visit your school and demonstrate how to use STAR Reading and how to take a quiz in Renaissance Place. The hands-on experience of using AR will enable them to
successfully use the software in the classroom with their pupils. Staff will be taken through how to set up the Library, how to take a STAR Reading test and how AR works. This will be
followed by a Q&A session. We will then take pupils through a STAR Reading Test and
Accelerated Reader Quiz.

Monitoring and Refining the Implementation of AR AR021
This session supports staff as follows:
1. Your Renaissance Consultant will take you through the reports in Renaissance Place and

show you how to best use the data available to monitor your pupils’ progress. They will also

take you through the Dashboard. This graphic representation of your school’s progress

displays the weekly or monthly activity of AR in your school on the page.
2. If you prefer to have your pupils working in teams, AR lets you monitor their progress as a

group and incorporate the competitive edge which can sometimes help to motivate pupils.

We can show you how to plan team targets and implement them in your school.
3. By introducing you to Renaissance Certification we shall help enable your pupils to

recognise one another’s academic success as they strive for a higher level of achievement.

The Model Classroom award recognises success in implementation of AR as pupils reach

their goals which are set over a twelve week period.

Launch STAR Reading AR022
Your personal consultant will assist you as you take a class through a STAR Reading test and show you how to access and use the results. Try out the STAR test for yourself and see how you get on!

Launch Accelerated Reader AR023
This is a session for your whole class, supervised by the teacher, so that your pupils can
experience taking their first quiz. Choose a short book to read to your class, then let them all sit the quiz together. As a class exercise, this will introduce your pupils to AR quizzing all
together so they can use it as a springboard for further quizzing.

How to get 100% in AR quizzes AR024
Getting 100% in a quiz is a great achievement and indicates real understanding of a book. This animated presentation, designed for pupils, will show them how to get 100% and help to raise results. It is an in-depth informative session for pupils who have started quizzing.

AR for Learning Support Departments AR025
SEN pupils and emergent readers can benefit greatly from AR as it provides support in the early stages of learning. The fun aspect of quizzing will hopefully help inspire your pupils and
encourage them to read. We will show you how to use AR in your Learning Support Department – how to monitor progress, motivate and support your pupils across the curriculum using AR, STAR Reading and STAR Early Literacy.

Leadership and Planning AR026
Working with your AR Project Manager and Senior Learning Team (SLT) we will help you analyse top level reports to effectively monitor school progress helping you to ensure strategic forward planning. We will also give you ideas and suggestions on how to implement AR across the whole curriculum.

Understanding STAR Early Literacy AR027
STAR Early Literacy allows you to assess general readiness, phonemic awareness, phonics and other early reading skills of your pupils so you can provide more effective instruction during the most critical years of your early readers' literacy development. This course will give you an overview of how to use the system and analyse the valuable data that will help you guide instruction.

Understanding STAR Early Literacy Scores and Reports AR028
Compared to paper assessments, STAR Early Literacy is faster, less costly and provides better and more extensive results in approximately 10 minutes!

With this session you will analyse STAR Early Literacy reports that can:
- Accurately and reliably assess 41 skills in 7 key early literacy domains.
- Screen pupils for placement, diagnostic assessment, progress monitoring, growth

measurement and outcomes assessment.
- Streamline testing and eliminate test anxiety with computer-adaptive technology.
- Monitor pupil and class progress throughout the year.
