The Mountbatten School, Hampshire

Approximately 50 students in Year 7 are targeted for intervention with Accelerated Reader at the Mountbatten School. The school uses part of its Pupil Premium budget to run the programme, with eligible students seeing their reading ages improve by 6.2 months in one term. Students are gaining in confidence and attitudes towards reading have been transformed.

The Renaissance School Partnership has transformed how staff at Eston Park Academy run Accelerated Reader. As a result, the percentage of students at risk has halved and the average number of points earned per student has risen almost fourfold.

A clear evidence trail at Everest

Accelerated Reader has been in use at Everest since 2007, but since joining the Renaissance School Partnership programme in 2012 the academy has seen increased improvements in attainment. The additional training and support provided by a dedicated programme manager has led to an increased focus on student data and more effective intervention, impressing inspectors.

By joining the Renaissance School Partnership programme, Firth Park has put Accelerated Reader at the centre of the English Department. While reading used to be an add-on, it is now firmly embedded in the curriculum and a top priority for the staff team.
