Welcome to your Complete Literacy Solution training portal

The Complete Literacy Solution consists of Star Assessments, Accelerated Reader and myON. More than just a digital library, myON is a great classroom tool that can support your teaching and learning. The tools within myON allow teachers to develop inference skills, make predictions, and support teacher prompts around questioning, clarification and reading fluency.  myON has over 70% non-fiction content and offers comprehension tools, audio options and projects. It connects to the Star online reading assessment, an online reading assessment for your pupils that provides access to a huge amount of data about reading levels and skills. It also connects to Accelerated Reader to ensure pupils read the best books to understand and check whether they have understood them. All the products have reports to track and monitor reading and literacy progress.

We know that getting started can seem confusing with different things to do, so to help you have a smooth implementation, we have put together a step-by-step timeline below to help get you up and running.

Month 1
Objective Booking links and resources
Step 1a: Enroll your myON users

Adding pupils and teachers to myON is done through a website called Enroll and separately from any other Renaissance products you may have. The admin login details to do this are sent to our main myON contact.

Step 1b: Upload your Star and Accelerated Reader, users

Adding pupils and teachers for Star Reading and Accelerated Reader is done by importing data to your Renaissance website.

(We advise doing this ahead of attending any training sessions)

Step 1c: Watch the on-demand video: Navigating your Renaissance website

This on-demand video will guide you through the remainder of the setup of your Renaissance website once you have imported your pupils and teachers.

(We advise doing this ahead of attending any training sessions)

Step 2a: Watch the on-demand video: Preparing your AR bookstock

Whether your school has a library management system or not, these on-demand training sessions will help you to successfully identify the books in your library/school that have quizzes and will guide you through their best labelling.

(We advise watching this video ahead of attending any training sessions. Although preparing your books can be done alongside the training, we strongly recommend you have it completed by your 3rd training session)

  • If your school does have a library management system, click here to access the on-demand video
  • If your school does not have a library management system, click here to access the on-demand video
Step 2b: Start to prepare your books for Accelerated Reader

Preparing your books for Accelerated Reader is important so pupils can select the correct books based on the results of their Star assessments.

Step 3a: Attend your first training session: Introduction to Star Assessments

Covering the following topics:

  • Star Best Practices
  • The science behind Star
  • Pre-test planning
  • Administering a test
  • Post-test data
  • How Star links to Accelerated Reader and myON

(Recommended attendees: teaching staff, SLT and assessment leads)

Step 3b: Star test your pupils

Ensure all your pupils have tested by the next step.

  • Ensuring pupils and staff can access myON for classroom use
  • Connecting Star assessment data to personalise book recommendations
  • Accessing the myON catalogue to expand reading experiences

Step 4b: Start your myON reading and bring all your staff on board

Launch myON with your pupils and get them reading; you may also want more staff to attend session one to support their pupils.

Step 4c: Start personalising myON utilising myON News (if applicable)

Now you should have enough information to track the reading happening and engage more with pupils through the Projects.

If you also have myON News as part of your subscription, you will find this short video orientates you on how to use it and incorporate it into daily reading.

Step 6: Book your 121 training session

Covering the following topics:

  • Overview of training so far
  • A detailed discussion of your own Star assessment data
  • A detailed discussion of your Accelerated Reader and myON data so far

Star Early Literacy

If you also have our Star Early Literacy (SEL) product, you will need to prepare for testing the children slightly differently from Star Reading and Star Maths, the main difference being that children will need headphones or speakers to access the test.

These documents are designed to help support implementing Star Early Literacy in your school:

Renaissance Clinics

If you need to ask the Training department about something specific, however, the Renaissance Clinics allow you to book time with one of our Training team in a 1:1 environment. The Clinics are fantastic for asking for product advice, advancing your implementation, analysing your data with some support, or just figuring out your next steps after completing the sessions.

Each clinic session can be booked for 15 mins at any time of the day; click here to book.

Access to these is unlimited too, so keep the link and book as often as you need.

This will complete your implementation, but unlimited access to the initial sessions will be available for you or any new staff for the first 12 months of your Renaissance products using the booking links above.

For any issues with importing data or BookGuide, contact the Renaissance Customer Services team at [email protected] or 020 7184 4000.
