April’s Monthly Quiz List is now available to view and download. The monthly Quiz List is our list of new quizzes for Accelerated Reader, including Reading Practice, Recorded Voice, Literacy Skills, and Accelerated Vocabulary quizzes. Each month, we will be picking out some highlights from the list. Here’s our selection of popular titles quizzed in April.

elmerRecorded Voice (RV) quizzes for early readers

In April, we released 12 Recorded Voice quizzes for David McKee’s Elmer books about the eponymous patchwork elephant. Several RV quizzes are also now available for Lynley Dodd’s Hairy Maclary series. These quizzes are professionally-recorded audio versions of the standard Reading Practice quizzes, meaning that emergent and beginning readers can hear quizzes read aloud and take them independently.

The Clumsies

clumsies

Sorrel Anderson’s popular slapstick series The Clumsies has now been quizzed. The hapless mice get themselves into ever more outlandish trouble as, whether at the zoo or at school, things never go to plan for them. Look out for the sixth book in the series, The Clumsies Make a Mess of the Airport, coming soon.

Hi/Lo series from Ransom Publishingsitis-sisters

One of the most common requests we receive is for quizzes for books at a high interest level and low reading age (Hi/Lo). This month we’ve quizzed two such series. The prequel series to Helen Orme’s Siti’s Sisters tells the story of the early days of the girls’ friendship, extending the series by a further six books. The GirlFriendZ series plunges a celebrity girl group into the perilous world of science-fiction. The girls are fighting to keep music alive while the evil Zargons and their MIB (Music is Banned) agents try to stop them playing to fans.

All about myths

Amongst several non-fiction titles from Raintree quizzed this month is a series of four books All About Myths. These books mix information about the culture of each society with retellings of some of the myths and legends that originated there. The books cover African, Egyptian, Norse and Roman myths, and would make ideal additional reading as these topics are covered in the curriculum.
