Welcome to your myON training portal

More than just a digital library, myON is a great classroom tool that can support your teaching and learning. The tools within myON allow teachers to develop inference skills, make predictions, and support teacher prompts around questioning, clarification and reading fluency. myON also offers comprehension tools, audio options and projects, and there are reports to track and monitor pupils reading and literacy progress.

Used to its full potential, myON will motivate your pupils to read more at home, ensuring maximum benefit.

Watch the intro video below for more about what to expect throughout onboarding.

Your myON onboarding consists of the following two, 121 training sessions:

  • Using myON for Teaching and Learning
  • Creating Projects & Monitoring Progress

You will also have access to key myON resources and additional 121 support via our Renaissance clinics; more information can be found at the bottom of this page.

Our Training Coordinators are also on-hand for anything your need during your onboarding stage with us. You can reach them at [email protected]

We know that getting started can seem confusing with different things to do, so to help you have a smooth implementation, we have put together a simple step-by-step timeline below to help get you up and running.

Objective Helpful Resources
Step 1: Enrol your users

Adding pupils and teachers to myON is done through a website called Enroll and separately from any other Renaissance products you may have. The admin login details to do this are sent to our main myON contact.

Step 2a: Attend your first session: Using myON for Teaching and Learning

Covering the following topics:

  • Navigating the student homepage & teacher dashboard
  • Connecting Star Reading data to personalise the recommendations
  • Utilising the myON catalogue, including myON News (if purchased)
  • Exploring the literacy tools available when reading a book, including Read Aloud
  • Creating Book Bundles for different topics or standards
  • Supporting myON use at home

(Recommended attendees: teaching staff and SLT)

Step 2b: Start your reading and bring all your staff on board

Launch myON with your pupils and get them reading; you may also want more of your staff to attend session one themselves so that they can support their pupils.

Step 3a: Attend your second session: Creating Projects & Monitoring Progress

Covering the following topics:

  • Using different tasks to create myON Projects
  • Making cross-curricular connections within myON Projects
  • Reviewing the teacher dashboard
  • Tracking individual pupil activity within myON
  • Monitoring the current reading activity across a class
  • Identifying reading habits
  • Setting classroom reading goals

(Recommended attendees: teaching staff and SLT)

Step 3b: Start personalising myON and utilising myON News

Now you should have enough information to track the reading happening and engage more with pupils through the Projects.

If you also have myON News as part of your subscription, you will find this short video orientates you on how to use it and incorporate it into daily reading.

Renaissance Clinics

If you need to ask the Training department about something specific, however, the Renaissance Clinics allow you to book time with one of our Training team in a 121 environment. The Clinics are fantastic for asking for advice on the products, advancing your implementation, analysing your data with some support, or just figuring out your next steps after completing the sessions.

Each clinic session can be booked for 15 mins at any time of the day; click here to book.

Access to these is unlimited too, so keep the link and book as often as you need.

This will complete your onboarding, but remember to save this page and keep access to the session booking links. Unlimited access to the initial sessions will be available for you or any new staff for the first 12 months of your Renaissance products.
